Four ingredients, built for sun. Zinc oxide is the workhorse — a mineral UV blocker that sits on the surface of the skin and physically reflects and scatters both UVA and UVB rays rather than absorbing them the way chemical sunscreens do. It is broad-spectrum by nature, non-irritating, and one of the few sun-protective ingredients gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. Beeswax gives the balm its structure and, just as importantly, its water resistance: it forms a breathable, water-repellent film on the skin that helps the balm — and the protection it carries — stay put through sweat and water instead of rinsing straight off. Beef tallow from grass-fed cattle grounds the formula in something your skin already recognizes; its fat profile mirrors your own sebum, and it carries vitamins A, D, E, and K that nourish the skin barrier and help it recover from sun exposure. Coconut oil rounds it out with lauric acid for a light, clean feel and a mild natural UV-absorbing quality of its own. Together they make real mineral sun protection that holds up in the water, on a base of ingredients that actually feed your skin rather than just coat it.

The story behind it

After years of reading sunscreen labels I couldn't pronounce — and reacting to half of them — I wanted a sun balm made the same way as everything else here: a short list of ingredients I actually trust. Zinc oxide for real mineral protection, beeswax to make it water-resistant, and tallow and coconut oil so it nourishes my skin instead of just sitting on top of it.

How it’s made

Beeswax, grass-fed beef tallow, and coconut oil are gently melted together, then non-nano zinc oxide is blended in until it's evenly dispersed and poured to set. Made by hand in small batches in Tampa.
